Dannah wants you to go to Panama with her. July 2- 15 (or extend to July 22nd) The 2012 Never The Same missions event created by Susie Shellenberger will truly leave you never the same again.
Several years ago, Dannah and her daughter Lexi joined Susie Shellenberger for the annual trip and itblew them away.
“I’ve never experienced anything like it,” said Dannah. In 2011, Dannah and Lexi gave it another try and were again so blessed by the unique depth of spiritual enrichment that the trip brought to both of them.
During the day, you’ll experience intimate interaction with people in the tropical rain forest of Panama who need God’s love. (You'll actually float down the river through the rain forest to get to a rather primitive tribal area for ministry on some days.) You’ll share God's love through a special drama that you’ll learn during a few days of training in Miami. Then, you’ll love them in practical ways—like washing little girl’s hair or maybe just offering hugs at an orphanage.
At night when your heart is about to burst from all the stories and miracles you’ve seen all day long, you’ll gather for powerful youth revival events with worship led by familiar artists and Bible teaching from best-selling authors and teachers including Dannah Gresh and Susie Shellenberger.
Where else on the planet can you go for this great combination of an international missions experience highlighted by a youth conference each evening? If God’s been speaking to your heart about missions, why not come with us for the 2012 Never The Same Again Missions Event.
For security, we select a very safe resort to stay in. This year we will be at the Gamboa Rainforest Resort. Check it out at: www.gamboaresort.com.
If all this exciting news doesn't make you want to go, consider the fact that you have the option of adding on a San Blas Island extention where you'll work with the Kuna Indians. For more about that, contact info@bigworld.org.
What’s the history of the trip?
Brio Magazine founding editor, Susie Shellenberger, began taking students on missions trips in 1996 with the first trip to Bolivia. She works with Big World Ventures who specializes in planning safe and life-changing missions events. Together, they’ve taken several thousand teens to Brazil, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Guatemala. The 2012 trip to Panama promises to be another life-changing experience!
Who is eligible for the trip?
Any guy or girl between the ages of 13-19 is eligible to attend as a student. A twelve year old Secret Keeper Girl may also join us on the trip if she is accompanied by a parent. But guess what, we need college Leaders In Training (L.I.T’s), too! And of course, to keep the trip safe, we need adults (like parents) to go and be a part of the adventure.
How is the trip kept safe?
You must be a mom to ask that question. Well, it’s a great one and we asked it, too. Here are a few ways that Big World Ventures makes the trip extra safe.
• We take a medical staff with us.
• Every evening we have our own service; teens are not even given an option to visit the city without adult supervision.
• We never use public transportation but charter our own buses.
• Teens are allowed to bring cell phones and call home.
• Shower and toilet facilities are available.
• We recruit qualified Christian adults to fill the sponsor roles in addition to our staff and volunteers.
• We all stay together in one large hotel that will be a safe and comfortable environment.
• We also take a professional counseling staff with us just in case a teen needs to talk about any issues that surface during the trip.
Big World Ventures also handles the details of food and lodging, sight-seeing, international flight reservations, recruiting Christian interpreters and church representatives to follow up on new converts, reserving buses for ministry travel once in the country, scheduling ministry events for each day and arranging a shopping excursion.
How much does it cost?
Don’t sweat the cost if the Lord is calling you to try out missions. Our experience is that with consistent, faithful planning you’ll be able to raise all of your funding by writing letters and asking friends and family to be a part of it. The cost for trip is $2,598 from Miami, Florida. If you opt to stay for the extended trip, the cost is $4098 from Miami. This covers food, lodging and airfare from Miami to Panama. In addition, you’ll be responsible for a $48 application fee ($58 for LIT's & Adults), your passport and your domestic flight to and from Miami International Airport, where we’ll meet before traveling to Panama. After January 31, 2012 the price will increase by $100.
